Rick's Scott's last TV Ad of the campaign -- Let's Get to Work!
On November 2nd, Floridians can send a message to Red State America -- 'We are Back!' By electing Rick Scott as the new Florida Governor, Florida will be put on a path to more jobs, less taxes and government which was the path started by Jeb Bush that the pretend Conservative Republican Charlie Crist interrupted. Time to take back the Governor's Office from now 'No Party' Crist who supports Obama policies which right there says he is no Conservative Republican. No wonder Florida turned blue for Obama with Crist as the Governor. Crist wasted no time embracing Obama and his Agenda for Florida which failed. Now it is time to put Rick Scott who is a 'real' Conservative Republican with a plan in office to clean up the mess left by the Obama supporter Crist and the Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink.
Rick Scott hitting 50% this close to the election is great news. We expect those numbers to climb as more people come on board for Scott/Carroll who have a 7-7-7 Plan to grow the economy of Florida.
Democrats in Florida are not energized as witnessed by their turnout for the primaries, but then maybe Mickey Mouse and his friends have decided not to vote this year. Those were some of the voter registrations turned in by ACORN in Florida in 2008. Florida like so many states is heavily registered Democrat but trends Republican -- a leftover from the days when the conservatives were southern Democrats throughout the south. Some of then have never reregistered but still vote Republican in the general election for the most part.
This analysis of the primary is striking:
“Turnout tells one potential story: Republicans, despite a 750,000-voter disadvantage in registration compared to Democrats, brought far more people to the polls. In all, 1.25 million Republicans cast ballots in the Republican Governor’s race, while fewer than 909,000 Democrats voted in the Democratic Senate primary — even though both races were heated and close in the final weeks.” (Cave, Damien, “Behind the Florida Primary Surprises, Turnout Tells a Tale,” The New York Times, 8/25/10)
It is also a reflection of what we have been finding in other primary states. Republicans are energized this time and cannot wait to vote on November 2nd. An example of how the Democrats in Florida are depressed is the Democrat Unity Tour:
More Candidates Than Grassroots Show Up For Democrats “Unity Event” “In a major show of force, the Democratic primary winners held a unification rally at UCF and attracted — 300 people. I do believe there were more candidates than party faithful. Now, if they were preparing to fight the Battle of Thermopylae and the 300 attendees were Spartans, they’d be good to go. But in the battle against Marco Rubio and Rick Scott, I don’t think so.” (Thomas, Mike, “Democrats rally?” Orlando Sentinel, 8/30/10)
“The Dems obviously have an excitement deficit. I believe their earlier rally in Tampa had a similar turnout. So if you added up both rallies, and multiplied the attendance by three, you would get the number of port-o-lets at Glenn Beck’s rally.” (Thomas, Mike, “Democrats rally?” Orlando Sentinel, 8/30/10)
No wonder we heard little about the Democrat Unity Tour while the Scott/Carroll Unity Tour attracted people like Jeb Bush to the events around the State. Turnout was awesome as Republicans joined together to start their campaign to win on November 2nd. They understand that Alex Sink is way too liberal to govern Florida and the good old boy system in Tallahassee would multiply if she was elected. Floridians know they need someone as Governor who will make the tough decisions to get the State back on the right track and actually has a plan to grow the Florida economy. There is only one choice for Florida and that is Rick Scott and Jennifer Carroll who have a plan for Florida!
Scott Hits 50 In Latest Rasmussen Poll, Leads Sink By 6 Points Among Likely Voters
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – In the latest Rasmussen Survey of likely voters out today, Republican gubernatorial nominee Rick Scott hit 50 percent and leads Obama liberal Alex Sink by 6 percent. The last Rasmussen poll on September 2 had Sink leading 48 to 47 percent when leaners were included. The other numbers in the survey are also bad news for Sink, with her favorability upside down. 46 percent of likely voters view former banker Alex Sink unfavorably while 45 percent have a favorable view, that’s a 20 point drop in her image from the September 2 Rasmussen poll. More troubling for Sink, Scott has a net favorable view among likely voters by a spread of 14 percent, 53 to 39 percent. That’s a ten point rise in his image since the September 2 Rasmussen poll. Scott also leads by a whopping 21 percent among the crucial swing voter group of unaffiliated likely voters.
Scott campaign spokesman Joe Kildea said, “With these new numbers showing support for Rick at 50 percent among likely voters it is clear that his message of economic growth and job creation is resonating with voters. Obama liberal Alex Sink is seen unfavorably by a plurality of voters because Florida voters reject her record of raising taxes, killing jobs, and mismanaging Florida’s pension fund. Voters are tired of ineptitude in Tallahassee and Rick will bring business experience and an honest plan to create 700,000 private sector jobs in the state.”
“KING: Let's move over to Florida. Again, a midterm election Republican primary turnout in 2010 way up from 2006, the last midterm election four years ago, and Marco Rubio who had no real challenge in the Republican primary for Senate, well he received more votes, if you look at those numbers, than all of the votes cast in the Democratic primary for Senate. Republicans look at this, Paul, and they say that is proof that what you had, what the Democrats had in 2006 and 2008, giant intensity edge, turnout edge, people excited to vote that they have this time. BEGALA: And they do. I mean, the numbers don't lie. The -- right now, how many days did you say, 68 days -- KING: Sixty-nine days. BEGALA: Sixty-nine days out the intensity is definitely on the right.” (Begala, Paul, and King, John, “Primary Night Fallout,” CNN, 8/25/10)
Rick Scott has plans for Tax and Insurance while Alex Sink is part of the status quo. Sending Scott to Tallahassee will help clean up Tallahassee and make it responsive to the people.Property taxes in Florida have been a problem for sometime as they rose dramatically as home prices rose but didn't fall in most counties when home prices fell.
Using the assessment calculator below on the Alex Sink State site brings out some interesting figures:
If you pay $1600 in insurance premiums on your home and $1200 on your cars, you would be assessed $243 for a 1 in 25 year hurricane; $1,523 for 1 in 100 years, and $3,124 for 1 in 250 years.
Even if the hurricane does not touch your property, you will be assessed to pay for those home/automobile owners who don't have insurance. Welfare state is alive and well in Florida.
To find out how much in assessments (taxes) you are already paying to cover costs for property insurance, even if you don’t own a home, please visit http://www.myfloridacfo.com/AssessmentCalculator/Consumers/AssessmentCalculator.aspx. This, coupled with the rising cost drivers that are a result of often fraudulent claims are costing all policy-holders and taxpayers. The impact these issues have on jobs and our economy is unacceptable.
No wonder new business doesn't want to relocate in Florida with their expensive insurance plans. Major insurance Companies have been pulling home owner's insurance out of Florida for some time due to property losses suffered from hurricanes which is driving up the rates. The insurance climate in Florida is bad for business. Something needs to be done to change the climate and also go after fraudulent claims.
Rick Scott Lays Out Tax And Insurance Plans To Town Hall In Miami
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – The Rick Scott For Florida campaign released the following remarks on tax and insurance plans as prepared for delivery by Republican gubernatorial nominee Rick Scott.
“Today, I want to talk about taxes and insurance --two very important issues that must be addressed in order to put Floridians back to work and turn around our housing crisis. Politicians in Tallahassee like my opponent Alex Sink had an opportunity over the last four years to reduce property taxes and insurance, but instead made the problem worse.
“As an outsider who is not entrenched in the status quo or beholden to special interest, I have a plan that will lower property taxes for all homeowners in Florida who desperately need some tax relief, eliminate the business tax and address the insurance crisis.
“Florida is also in the top three states nationally in mortgage foreclosures and our economy has been crushed by housing price declines. 44% of our homes are underwater and property tax revenues have been growing faster than personal incomes. I will cut the state portion of property taxes by 19% for all homeowners in Florida helping to make their homes affordable again. And we will offset the cut with savings from my 777 plan.
…
“I will return citizens to the insurer of last resort, level the playing field so that solvent private insurers are allowed to compete with each other for business, not with the subsidized and financially unsound government run insurance company.
“Florida needs a thriving mitigation program that will incentivize homeowners to spend money to install features that harden their homes against hurricanes and will ultimately drive down cost. The fraud-based system that politics as usual gave us these past years was a failure.
…
“As Governor, I will make the following Tort reforms a priority: Bad Faith Reform, Product Liability & Crashworthiness, Disaster Recovery – Private Sector, Expert Testimony Reform, and Medical Related Reform.
…
“I proved them wrong on August 24th and we will again on November 2nd when voters a real choice between the failed policies of the past or the new solutions we need to turn our Sunshine State around. Our opportunities are too great, our future too bright for the old ways of government and the failed policies of the past. That’s why I invite you to join me in a completely different kind of campaign. Let’s shake up Tallahassee, turn our state around and get Florida growing again!”
UPDATE: August 30, 2010 -- Former Republican Governor Bob Martinez will be joining the Florida Unity Tour today with other Republican leaders. This is great news for the State of Florida that Republicans are going into the November 2nd election united.
UPDATE: August 30, 2010 -- Rick Scott To Continue His Unity Tour In Miami And Jacksonville With Haley Barbour (Miami) And Jeb Bush (Jacksonville) On August 31st, 2010 _________
If you are in Florida near one of these events, please make sure you show up to give the Florida Republican Governor's candidate, Rick Scott, a warm reception and sign up to help his campaign.
Congratulations to Rick Scott on his victory last night in the Florida primary for Governor. It is a victory for the residents of Florida not the lobbyists and the power brokers in Tallahassee. We had a hunch that Scott was going to win based on what we were hearing from friends and family in Florida and seeing how negative McCollum started going which is a sure sign of a campaign in trouble.
The more we learned of Rick Scott, the more he sounded like people who run for office out here in the Heartland. Then we discovered that Rick was born in Bloomington, Illinois, raised in Kansas City, Missouri, and is now considered one of America’s foremost entrepreneurs. It made sense -- great to have a candidate running for Governor in Florida who was raised right here in the Heartland of America and learned at an early age the values of hard work and conservative values. Rick is a firm believer in giving back through charities and his church to make not only his local community better but also other places around the world.
Some of you are probably asking, "Who is Rick Scott" since he only came on the political scene in the spring after he had enough of what was happening in Tallahassee. We have witnessed one of the best State GOP organizations crumble under Greer, Crist, and lobbyists to a shell of its former self. We look forward to seeing a new energy from Florida GOP after this primary when everyone comes together to defeat Alex Sink, who is the Florida poster child for a liberal progressive woman. She can try to run away from her very liberal leanings but being a member of Emily's List tells the story.
Here is a short video from Rick Scott who is conservative and shares the conservative values of the Republican Party. Every last Republican in Florida including Bill McCollum needs to roll up their sleeves and make Rick Scott the next Governor of Florida on November 2nd.
In the days ahead we will be highlighting more of Rick Scott's message like his7-7-7 Plan to create jobs in Florida. Please visit his website at http://www.rickscottforflorida.com/ to view his message, sign up to help his campaign, or make donation -- all three would be great.
