For weeks we have been trying to put all the media hype about the Tea Party including being racist in perspective. It is beginning to look more and more that a lot of the hype is media driven. Individuals belong in what the Tea Party stands for but in most cases are not that organized.
The volunteers working the campaigns as was pointed out earlier are from the grassroots if the Republicans. Sharron Angle comes from that grassroots sitting on her GOP County Committee for 20 years. These are not what the media likes to classified as "Tea Party" candidates. These people like Buck and Angle are longtime Republicans both holding office as Republicans, yet they are counted the Tea Party candidates by the media?
The media has been in a full court press to tie these two people to the Tea Party which tells us there has been polling showing a negative connotation in the general election in some areas. The media pushes the Tea Party but yet the people volunteering are the long time Republican grassroots which they love to ignore. We will have more on all of this after the election.
Colo. Senate hopeful stands his ground on 'tea-party' issuesBy Joseph Weber

Ken Buck, the Republican candidate for a Colorado U.S. Senate seat, was forced early in a nationally televised debate Sunday to defend criticism that he was abandoning the "tea party" and the outsider stances that helped him win the GOP nomination.
He didn't need to, standing his ground on homosexuality, the war in Afghanistan and other key election issues during a debate with incumbent Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet on NBC's "Meet the Press."
Mr. Buck said he believes homosexuality is a choice because "you can choose who your partner is." However, he also acknowledged that sexual preference is determined at birth, "like alcoholism and some other things."
His statement was in sharp contrast to President Obama's comment last week during a town-hall-style meeting.
"I don't think it's a choice," the president said. "I think people are born with a certain makeup."
Mr. Bennet and Mr. Buck, Weld County district attorney, are locked in one of the closest, high-profile Senate races of the midterm elections. A Rasmussen Reports poll last week showed Mr. Buck falling several percentage points but still holding a lead of 47 percent to 45 percent.
The roughly 20-minute debate was remarkably civil, considering the candidates have been attacked by critics for past statements, highlighted in million of dollars worth of negative TV ads.
Both agreed on several issues, including that the tea-party movement is not infiltrated with racist members.
"I haven't seen it in Colorado," said Mr. Buck, who hardly exchanged glances with his rival. "Folks who hold those views are asked to leave."
Said Mr. Bennet, "I haven't see a lot of that, either."
Great to see this positive ad with the facts not some hit piece we have been seeing out of the Democrats throughout the south. We would expect no less from one of the most honorable men we have running for Senate. Unlike his opponent, Bennet, Ken Buck will stand up for the citizens of Colorado in the Senate against the Obama extreme liberal agenda.
Grassroots across America are working hard to send these fine leaders to DC. Please join the effort in these last few weeks -- candidates can always use more help or donations.
Ken Buck is the Colorado grassroots candidate in Colorado who is supported by various conservative groups throughout Colorado. John Harwood, NY Times, attempts to do a gotcha interview on Ken Buck but it fails miserably as it gives Ken Buck a chance to get out the truth about what he has said and what he believes. Very impressive interview.
Congratulations to Ken Buck who won the Colorado Republican primary for the US Senate!
This email from Ken Buck late this evening reminded us of the primary election night in 2004 when Dr. Tom Coburn shocked the establishment and won outright in a three-person race. What was great about this race tonight is that Jane Norton didn't hesitate to endorse Ken Buck and ask her supporters to start work tomorrow on taking back our country. Ken Buck was quick to point out how gracious Jane Norton was in her call and how they had been good friends before the primary and would be after the primary. Felt great to see two Republicans who fought hard to immediately support the winner. Buck would have done the same thing if the results had been reversed.
Colorado should be a shining example to all Republican primary candidates when you lose, you immediately endorse your opponent and ask your supporters to join with supporters from your opponent to work to elect the Republican on November 2nd. This election is too important on November 2nd to allow petty politics to stand in the way of Republican victories all across America.
We commend Jane Norton for her class tonight and hope to see her run for office again in Colorado.
It is great that Ken Buck will be the Republican nominee for Senate and now we need to help send him to DC to help Dr. Coburn in his fight against pork and earmarks.
We achieved something truly amazing tonight. We did what no one believed we could. We sent a message loud and clear. We are ready to take back the Senate. We are ready for principled, conservative values in Washington.
In my speech tonight, I asked a question-- Can we tell our children that we did enough as their opportunity for a better life was being squandered? We spoke out and Washington Ignored us. But, with your help, in November they will not be able to ignore us anymore.
Tomorrow we begin the general election. To win this fight I need to ask your help again. Please, renew your commitment by making a contribution today. Whatever you can donate, it will make a difference. We have fought hard for 16 months; we will fight hard for the next 83 days, and in November we will win.
Please, make a donation and In November, you can look at your children and tell them that this is still the land of opportunity.
A quick reminder why Ken Buck is the perfect candidate to represent Republicans in the general election for the Colorado Senate seat. This video gives you a close up of the candidate and what he believes. Unlike his opponent, Ken Buck has run a positive campaign during this primary and has earned the support of the Colorado Republican grassroots.
Please click on the forward button which will bring up a list of Ken Buck videos and scroll to the Conversation with Ken Buck to learn about where he stands on issue and his vision as a US Senator to help restore America.
This race has been tightening in Colorado the same thing that happened in the Tom Coburn race in 2004 when we, the grassroots, showed the establishment that when we set our minds to it, we can win races against all odds. We sent Dr. Tom to the US Senate in 2004 and we are sending him back in November to continue his fight against pork, earmarks, Obamacare, wasteful spending, and the Democrat socialist agenda. We need Ken Buck elected from Colorado to join Dr. Tom in the Senate to help him continue his fight.
On June 20th, the Denver Post released their new polling on the Colorado Senate race:
Buck, the Weld County prosecutor buoyed by outside TV buys and Tea Party sentiment, leads former Lt. Gov. Norton 53 percent to 37 percent among likely Republican primary voters, according to poll results.
Ken Buck also now has the fundraising lead over his Republican opponent. With momentum switching to Buck from all across the State, now he needs that momentum transferred into votes on August 10th when Colorado voters go to the polls to select their nominees.
Listen to what Ken Buck has to say in this video from his Denver rally and ask yourself if he is not the type of candidate we need all across America to join Dr. Coburn and Senator DeMint in fighting for our freedoms and fiscal conservatism in DC.
"Ken Buck's passion and authenticity are resonating with voters across the state, and the tide has turned in his favor," according to Senator DeMint (R-SC) who attended this rally with Ken Buck in Denver and had these words to say about Ken Buck and what is happening in DC:
We agree 100% with Sen DeMint about some of the Republican leadership in DC starting with Trent Lott and Denny Hastert when Pres Bush was first elected. Hastert turned out to be a nice guy but not someone who would say NO to more spending. In 2004, we sent Dr. Coburn to the US Senate with one thought in mind -- cut spending including earmarks and pork. He joined Senator DeMint and Senator McCain along with some others like George Allen (R-VA) but leadership was pretty silent on their ideas to cut waste from Government.
Colorado Republicans have a chance on August 10th to send a clear message when they elect Ken Buck as their nominee that voters are fed up and want people in office who will listen to them. This prosecutor from Greeley, Colorado, is not someone you are going to be able to push around in DC, but he will continue to stand up for the citizens of Colorado not special interest groups.
All you need to do is to check the voting record of Bennett (D-CO) to realize with his '8' conservative voting record he is a lapdog for Reid/Obama. The one vote the presumed Democrat nominee Bennett, an Obama liberal, made that the American Conservative Union considered conservative was to add more money for 'Cash for Clunker' which we don't think was very conservative. Bennett was appointed by the Colorado Governor to replace Ken Salazar after he resigned to join the Obama Administration as Interior Secretary in early 2009. Salazar is turning out to be one of the worst Interior Secretaries we have had to date with his handling of the Gulf Oil crises where he seems to be wanting to tank the Gulf economy with his moratorium on oil drilling for six months. We would bet he is following Obama's orders on this, but he is now ignoring a Federal Judge ruling which was against the moratorium.
When Ken Buck faces Bennett in the general election, it will give voters a clear choice between candidates. On one side you have the Democrat Bennett who, by his own voting record, is a lapdog Senator for Obama and Reid. When they say "jump," Bennett asks "how high?" On the flip side is Ken Buck who when he goes to DC and raises his hand to take the oath to support the Constitution means just that. Buck will represent the people of Colorado and listen to what his constituents have to say. He will make his determination on how to vote on what is best for Colorado and the Nation not on what is best for the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) or leadership.
We have opposed most of the choices of the NRSC over the years when they choose to get involved in open seat races in the primary and Colorado is no different. Florida is probably the best example when Sen Cornyn and his Committee chose to endorse Governor Charlie Crist against Marco Rubio. Then some Republican Senators maxed out their contribution to Crist. How did he pay them back? He became the NO PARTY candidate and stiffed them all on their contributions once he saw he could not beat Rubio in the primary. We would question their endorsement in Colorado as more of the same where they should have stayed out of the race. Oklahomans had experience with that in 2004 when the establishment endorsed Dr. Coburn's opponent.
It takes a lot to win a statewide race -- money for a campaign is vital but there is one intangible in running a grassroots campaign against an establishment candidate -- enthusiastic grassroots volunteers who will work every spare moment for a candidate they believe is the best candidate. All the establishment support in the world (Dr. Coburn's opponent had Pres Bush's support) cannot get out the voters like the grassroots can deliver.
Senator DeMint has some advice on how those of the grassroots around the Country can join forces with those in Colorado to help Ken Buck become the Republican nominee for Senate on August 10th:
Time is running short. Most of the votes in the Colorado Republican primary will be cast by mail-in ballots. Those ballots will be mailed to voters on July 19. We must give Ken Buck the support he needs right now or it could be too late.
Here's what you can do:
1. Pray. Ken, his wife, Perry, his son, Cody, and his daughter, Kaitlin, are under a great deal of pressure. Having run in some bruising races myself, I can tell you that it's hardest on the family. Please pray that each of them will have strength and courage in the final weeks of this campaign. Ken Buck is a man of integrity and he's working hard to run a positive and honorable campaign. Please pray that he has wisdom to make sound decisions.
2. Make calls from home. Many of you have already made calls for other candidates. It can be intimidating if you have never done it before but it's pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Personal calls from real people are extremely powerful. They will raise Ken's name awareness and strengthen his image with targeted voters. You can make these calls using your phone and a computer, which allows Buck's campaign to keep track of the results. Email ken@buckforcolorado.com and ask for a link and password to make phone calls. Please make sure to include your name, address, and telephone number so they know where you live and how to contact you.
3. Contribute. I know money is tight and there are a lot of candidates who need support. But this race is one of the most important in the country. It gives conservatives a real chance to replace President Obama's hand-picked senator in Colorado with a true conservative. Each dollar you contribute will go directly to Ken Buck's campaign and will power his TV and radio ads down the stretch.
4. Spread the word. If you know anyone in Colorado, contact them and urge them to support Ken Buck in the Republican primary. And if you know people who share your love of country and the principles of freedom, tell them about the Senate Conservatives Fund. The more people we have on our team, the more resources we will have to elect true conservatives.
Ken's wife Perry owns a small business in Greeley. She served as the Vice-Chair of the Colorado Republican Party for 4 years. Son Cody is a fourth year cadet at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Daughter Kaitlin is a sophomore at Clemson University
The paragraph below says it all about Ken Buck and how hard he has worked over the years to get where he is today. He understands what people are going through on a daily basis. As District Attorney, Ken has been able to help young people who were headed down the wrong path. When he first decided to run, Ken was way behind the establishment frontrunner, Jane Norton, but today the race is tight after Ken and Perry have been traveling around the state listening to voters and what they have to say about their opposition to what they see in Congress.
Over the course of his career, he has worked as a truck driver, high school football coach, ranch hand, school janitor, paper boy, furniture mover, adjunct law professor, prosecutor, and businessman. Ken knows what Colorado families face everyday and is well prepared to serve as their voice in the United States Senate.
When the dust settles after the Primary, we expect Colorado to have a very strong candidate who all Republicans can get behind. If you live in Colorado, consider giving your vote to the people's candidate, Ken Buck, in the primary. Most important thing to remember is that whoever wins the primary, Jane Norton, Ken Buck, or Cleve Tidwell, they will need support of Republicans throughout Colorado to beat the Democrat.
I became a candidate for the U.S. Senate because of my growing concern about the direction the new Administration and new Congress are taking our country.
Having been elected District Attorney in Weld County twice by large margins I know how important it is to serve the public by doing what's right.
But too many in Congress today seem more interested in serving themselves and the special interests instead of the people they were elected to serve. Their irresponsible actions are putting our economic future at risk.
Colorado's appointed U.S. Senator Michael Bennet has quickly become part of the problem and is turning out to be just another reliable rubber stamp for the big spending, big government leaders in Congress. Bennet voted for the 800 billion dollar stimulus bill, admitting that he hadn't even read the bill. Bennet is ready to turn our health care system over to the federal government by pledging support for the so-called "public option" health plan. And Bennet is ready to hike energy prices and deal our staggering economy a deadly blow. He "wants to be for" the cap and trade disaster looming in Congress.
Well, Colorado is not going to settle for a rubber stamp Senator. The call to action to reclaim our U.S. Senate seat has been heard and people at home are responding with passion and enthusiasm.
Thousands of Coloradans have shared their concerns with my wife Perry and I as we have traveled through all 64 counties building the grassroots leadership team for my campaign. From downtown Greeley to main streets across the state, we have been overwhelmed by the willingness of so many to donate their precious time, energy and money to help our campaign get off to such a strong start.
If you share my concern about the direction the politicians in Washington are taking our country, I hope you will consider supporting my campaign. With your help, I can be the strong independent voice Colorado needs in the U.S. Senate.
