Get Out The Vote -- Mary Fallin Republican for Oklahoma Governor

UPDATE: Nov 2nd, 2010 -- Proudly cast my vote for Mary Fallin and the statewide Republicans running for office here in Oklahoma about an hour ago and then promptly put my I Voted stick on the bumperstrip I have for Mary on the back of my SUV.

Felt like I was back in California with the number of initiative issues on the ballot some of which were 'feel good' types that were ridiculous. These were from the legislature for the most part and sure hope in the future some of that ends because they cloud the really good issues like voter ID being required. As I read through them I was grateful to The Oklahoman for detailing them.   Most of them were from the same two people in the legislature.  Think that needs to change in the future to be initiatives by the voters not the legislature.

My home state of Ohio looks to be going RED today in statewide races.  Ohio and Florida will be back in Red State America after today!  Oklahoma is going to turn the Governor's Office and other State Offices red to match the Red from 2008!

GO VOTE if you haven't voted already and prepare to enjoy this evening!  The day is slowly going by unlike some days that have flown by. 




There are several races in this Country that are near and dear to the people involved here and with our sister site -- Oklahoma and Florida Governor races along with the Florida and Colorado Senate races have been top priorities for us in this election season.  We are also interested in the OK Senate race of Dr. Tom Coburn but that race has never been in doubt.  This will be the first time in 8 years that Oklahoma will have a Republican Governor who is also a conservative. We have to Get Out The Vote to make sure that the polling is correct and Mary Fallin will by Governor-Elect Fallin on the night of November 2nd.

Why Did Bobby Bright Vote For Nancy Pelosi?

Democrat Bobby Bright is being opposed by Republican Martha Roby in a Congressional District that is heavily Republican. Bright was elected to the seat in 2008 as a Democrat who was very conservative BUT when he got to the House, first thing he did was vote for Pelosi for Speaker. He voted against the Republican alternative to Obamacare but did vote against the final Obamacare bill as one of the people Pelosi said could vote against the bill. If the bill would have been tied, would he have still voted against the bill or would he have voted with Pelosi to pass?

Bright has a 72% voting record on conservative issues which means over 25% of the time he votes with Pelosi and the Democrats. Voters of Alabama's 2nd District need to turn that seat back RED and not have to worry if their member of Congress is going to vote for or against them.

Now we learn that Bright who has trashed Pelosi and said he won't vote for her for Speaker has asked for help as he was out fund raised 3-1 by Roby. Who does Bright call in after the Pelosi Democrats have spent almost $1M in his race? A front for labor unions:

Top contributors to “Citizens for Strength and Security” include some of the largest and most powerful liberal unions in the nation, including the controversial Services Employees International Union, the Teamsters Union, and the United Food & Commercial Workers Union.

The well-publicized agendas for these and other contributors are squarely in-line with the liberal positions taken by President Barack Obama and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. Advancing an agenda that includes government takeover of health care, job-killing card check legislation, and amnesty for illegal immigrants is a central part of the mission of these unions.

“The fact that union front groups are spending money in Alabama’s Second District deeply undercuts Democrat Bobby Bright’s claim to be independent,” said Mike Hamilton, campaign manager for Martha Roby. “These unions are spending money in Alabama for one reason: they know a vote for Bobby Bright is a vote to keep Nancy Pelosi in power.”

This from Bright who is claims to be a conservative, independent, and anti-Pelosi? It is becoming clearer and clearer that once again Democrats are trying to run as Conservatives.  We believe voters have learned their lesson and are not buying into this mantra of 'conservative' Democrats as the facts speak for themselves with his voting over 25% of the time with Pelosi. By definition that is not conservative.

Voters of the Alabama's 2nd Congressional District have a choice -- they can send Bright back to the Congress and ensure that Pelosi has a voice or they can elect Conservative Republican Martha Roby and make sure their voices are heard.   That is an easy choice -- Martha Roby needs to be elected from the 2nd district of Alabama on November 2nd!

Cong Mary Fallin (R-OK) on "Why the Oklahoma Governor's Race is So Important"

In her speech to Stephens County GOP, Mary Fallin explains the differences that separate her and Jari Askins. Other than the two being women and being Lt Governor, there is not much the two have in common as they are 180 degrees apart with their political philosophy. Probably the best way to sum it up is Mary is an Oklahoma Conservative with core conservative values. Jari Askins is an establishment liberal supporting Obama and his agenda although she did say she has no plans to have Obama come into Oklahoma to campaign for her. Why? Trying to fool the Oklahoma electorate into believing she is not so liberal?

Mary didn't hesitate to have former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, brother of President George W Bush, come into Oklahoma this past week. Both share the conservative principles of limited government and less taxes.

The debates should be interesting in the months ahead. The biggest question will be if Askins tries to move to the center flip flopping on her votes in the Oklahoma Legislature. That seems to be the mantra of most liberal democrats running for office -- hide their liberal agenda.

Club for Victory Email (Club for Growth)

We have been telling people to donate direct to candidates except for one group which we find helps candidates the most in elections -- Club for Growth.

The first time we an experience with Club for Growth was in 2004 in the Dr. Tom Coburn race for the Oklahoma Senate seat vacated by Senator Don Nickles.

The powers at be in D.C. decided that another Republican candidate was who they wanted as the next Senator not Dr. Coburn who had the experience of serving three terms in the House and was known as a straight shooter and cost cutter who hated earmarks and pork. They shut off Dr. Coburn's fundraising in DC and one of his opponents was sending flyers around in the PRIMARY with his picture with Pres Bush at the White House. Club for Growth knew that Dr. Coburn was the conservative in the race so they got behind him in the primary which he won outright in a 3-way race which meant no run-off.

After the primary, you would think that the RNC would have made sure along with the NRSC to ensure that Dr. Coburn had plenty of money to run in the general. They didn't so Club for Growth and all of us in Oklahoma who supported Dr. Coburn in the primary opened our wallets and also provided plenty of volunteer hours to help him win. Speaker of the House Denny Haster three weeks before the election said that Coburn was not going to win. George Allen, Chair of NRSC, disagreed and supported Dr. Coburn in the general. We held a fundraiser in Norman near the end of the campaign and the room was packed with donors which said Dr. Tom was going to win and he won going away.

Without Club for Growth not sure that Dr. Coburn would have pulled it off as his opponent Brad Carson was pretending himself to be the 'conservative' on radio and TV. IMHO Club for Growth donated the money for ads that put Dr. Coburn over the top. Pat Toomey who was head of Club for Growth at the time Dr. Coburn won is now running for the US Senate from Pennsylvania -- we need to get that Senate seat back Republican after Specter defected to the Democrats.

Now Club for Growth is heavily involved in the Florida Senator race for Marco Rubio to defeat Charlie Crist plus in Nevada to defeat Harry Reid and send Sharon Angle to the US Senate.

If you only donate to one group, make sure it is Club for Growth who support Conservatives who win elections.

Our PAC got a new nickname yesterday, courtesy of The Wall Street Journal's Political Diary - "Club for Victory." Here's an excerpt:

"The free-market oriented political group had a banner primary night [Tuesday]. It not only helped Tim Scott win a primary in South Carolina, but provided over $400,000 to help his fellow state legislative colleague Jeff Duncan. Mr. Duncan won a 51% runoff victory and becomes the GOP candidate for the vacant Congressional seat held by Gresham Barrett, who ran unsuccessfully for governor. The Club also had a good night in Utah, where it provided early support for lawyer Mike Lee in his race for the U.S. Senate. Mr. Lee, together with businessman Tim Bridgewater, knocked off incumbent U.S. Senator Bob Bennett at the GOP state convention earlier in this spring."

National Review Online chimed in too, saying "The Club for Growth is on a roll. Earlier this month, it won big with Sharron Angle in Nevada. After last night, it is batting a thousand this cycle" with its PAC.

Then The Washington Post reviewed the "Winners and Losers" after this week's primaries.

The #1 winner? The Club's PAC. Here's their report:

"Club for Growth: Has any outside group had a better election cycle than the Club? On Tuesday, South Carolina state Reps. Tim Scott (in the 1st district) and Jeff Duncan (in the 3rd) -- both of whom the Club bundled tens of thousands for -- won contested Republicans runoffs. Those victories prove, yet again, that the Club's support -- in the form of bundled donations and spending on ads and direct mail -- matters in a real way in contested Republican primaries."
